Jesse, Mackenzie, and Ben prepares Kids in Milton for a physically and mentally bright future through Kicks for Kids

Kicks for Kids is currently owned by Jesse, Mackenzie, and Ben. We had all been trainingat Kicks for Kids under the tutelage of Master Mario Hundertajlo for several years and had also been employed by Kicks for Kids operating the various programs, teaching classes, running an Afterschool program and developing a higher level of learning with our students through Tae Kwon Do. Just over 3 years ago the opportunity presented itself for the 3 of us to take ownership of Kicks for Kids. We jumped on the opportunity without hesitation.

Each of us has worked at Kicks for Kids with great pride over the better part of the last decade. Having the opportunity to teach and train the youth of our community has been an especially wondrous gift. Since taking ownership we have only pushed ourselves more to better serve our community and provide an unforgettable experience to our students that will stay with them for the rest of their lives. We prioritize focus, confidence and critical thinking, traits we believe lead to a prosperous and genuine lifestyle, something to be sought after.

Covid has undoubtedly changed the methods by which we all lead our lives and we have made the necessary changes so that we may continue to serve our students and community. We now screen each student as they enter our facility, which includes wearing a mask upon entry, a temperature check and a list of questions to ensure they are in the best of health. Students will then proceed to their training studio where a portion of the training mats has been sectioned off and allocated for their use. Upon entering the sectioned off area students may remove their masks confident that they are at a safe distance from all other students. Each training zone is a minimum of 6 feet from each other training zone. Students are then able to train in a high energy class, with an experienced instructor and able to maintain their fitness needs while also learning a valuable skill. After class has finished and the students depart for the evening, the training areas are cleaned and disinfected before the next class begins.

We are looking forward to launching our 2020-2021 Afterschool program with all new protocols to serve students returning to school and students practicing distance learning.

If children are heading back to school:

  • Students will be picked up at designated dismissal time and transported to K4K (face mask must be worn for all ages)
  • They will receive their full afterschool program and Taekwondo training under new distanced protocols

If children are participatingin distance learning

  • Students will be scheduled for at-home pick up each day and participate in the program
  • Alternatively, there will be a morning option from 8am-2pm or 8:30-2:30pm where students will complete their online schoolwork at Kicks for Kids with assistance and receive their 45 minute Taekwondo class each day. This program is only availablefor 5-8 children max.

Even though the future may look uncertain, it is important we make the most of each day and commit ourselves to our own growth and development at this time. We all stand together facing these unprecedented times, we will make it through this by working with together.
